Columbus chorus to perform with BalletMet
The Columbus Gay Men's Chorus teams with BalletMet in the Chorus' summer concert, Love Rewoven, Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18 at 8 pm in Weigel Hall at the Wexner Center for the Arts.
"This collaboration is very exciting for us... as the first creative teaming with BalletMet, it's a landmark in our artistic achievements," David Price, artistic director, said.
The Chorus and BalletMet dancer Scott Brown will combine their talents to present the Ohio premiere of Hidden Legacies an exciting, life-affirming work that incorporates influences from a variety of musical languages to address the AIDS crisis and its effect on the gay. lesbian and bisexual community.
Along with Brown, who is choreographing the dance sections, eight BalletMet company members, pre-professional dancers and senior academy students are contributing to the piece.
"I consider it a great honor to lend my artistic talent to such a significant, vital cause," Brown explained.
The chorus will also perform a soulful, spiritual collection of inspirational free-
dom songs from around the globe to help kick off Gay Pride weekend, June 17-19. The Columbus Gay Men's Chorus, in its fourth season, is a 95-voice chorus dedi-
cated to performing vocal music of the highest quality and fostering increased recognition, understanding and acceptance of gay men and lesbians in society.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. To purchase tickets by phone, call the Chorus at 265-7447 or the BalletMet box office at 229-4848. ✓
